After painting the 36 by 36 oil painting for our Christmas card this year, I just couldn't stop painting sheep. Many of my friends also received a little free hand watercolor of the large sheep, as an orginal little bonus. So, while I had the free hand style of doing the sheep in my mind, today I completed the loose oil painting in the watercolor style. Cynthiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08131789349818344126noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7713505846221250571.post-25638978700833863012011-12-26T18:56:00.000-08:002011-12-26T18:56:35.947-08:00Two Wise Sheep for Christmas

Cynthiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08131789349818344126noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7713505846221250571.post-37346873251131564502011-08-23T18:10:00.000-07:002011-08-23T18:10:56.455-07:00September 2011 Art Walk-Springfield, MO<span style="color: cyan; font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace; font-size: large;">Canvas Art Gallery
I will be at the show from 5 until 7 on that Friday night, and will buy any friends of mine a gelato for stopping by. The cute little shop, is owned by Chantel Drennen who is a friend of Frank, my son. They were both undergrads at Drury University several years ago, so I will donate any proceeds from this show to Drury. Last fall Bob and I were driving around looking for good places for me to paint outside, when we found these sheep. They are on the University of Arkansas farm property on Garland Ave. between the 540 Interstate and downtown Fayetteville. These are "city sheep" that live at the university, maybe they have college degrees, who knows. Maybe I should check to see if they are still there, someone may be using them for a masters degree research or something. I have made some note cards of the sheep, maybe I will take some by to the University Offical Sheep Keeper, who ever that may be.
This might be my favorite of the group of paintings. The first painting I did for this show was the 18x18 of the two sheep. Then I was just in love with the sheep and started doing all the smaller paintings. So one night Bob walked out into my art studio ( which means he left ESPN for a short time) and saw this little painting. So, he asked, did this sheep get divorced from the other sheep. I said, why do you ask that, well it looks like you cut his picture out from the other one, and that is what you do when you get divorced. I just hate to name the picture the "Divorced Sheep" so we will call it the "Lone Sheep"Cynthiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08131789349818344126noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7713505846221250571.post-75895885087496335802011-03-26T09:49:00.000-07:002011-03-26T09:49:17.144-07:00Who me Sheep

8x8 Oil painting on a gallery wrap canvas.
This is an oil that is not on a gallary wrap, so I will try to get it framed before the show next week. This is way to close to view this painting, you need to stand back from the screen, maybe across the room.Cynthiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08131789349818344126noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7713505846221250571.post-58851882008035325672011-03-26T09:45:00.000-07:002011-03-29T18:16:35.164-07:00Four Sheep but only two are watching us

16x20 Oil painting When taking pictures of the Sheep, they were having a good time minding their own business when Bob and I started taking pictures. I can't really draw, but I have fun with these sketch books when I am on vacation. This was a Christmas Vacation and our first time not to be at home, but all the kids and grandkids loved it. Three days at "Christmas Town" as we called it, as we rode the shuttle to dinner each night. All the cabins are decked out with white lights, and they reflect in Table Rock Lake. Running horses, bears climbing trees, reindeer are just a few of the animals made out of Christmas lights that are placed around the resort. Decorated Christmas trees are everywhere and swags of everygreens with lights hang from every inch of the resort, that doesn't already have a stuffed animal hanging with some type of fishing gear.
This was true Christmas Fun for our family.....................................Cynthiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08131789349818344126noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7713505846221250571.post-82707263995359965722010-12-29T14:32:00.000-08:002010-12-29T14:32:29.956-08:00We kept the Fireplace going for 3 days

The weather was perfect for a fireplace, we kept the fire going for three days. Snow was in the air, we had a decorated Christmas Tree in the cabin, all we had to bring were the gifts to go under the tree. This is the easy to put together Christmas Vacation, just call the shuttle, and they take you where ever you want to go at Big Cedar Lodge.

Santa came to the cabin on Christmas Eve, I screamed when I saw him in the window, this is the real Santa. He came in the door with Snowflake, his elf, that had visited the cabin the night before to read Violet and Camile a bedtime story. Everyone in the world should get to meet this "Santa" he was tall, larger than life and just wonderful in every way. WOW.......I can't say enough good things about him, but of course that is how everyone should feel about Santa.
